Well, folks, Two Rivers Fishing is officially open once again! We are excited to finally get things kicked off with some already great fishing opportunities in the area. As expected, the water is cold, and the fish are sluggish, but that isn’t stopping our staff and locals from tying into some nice fish. Most of the action is coming from deep-diving nymph rigs, but you can still persuade a few here and there to chase a streamer. Snowpack in the Wind River and Wyoming Ranges is holding strong, even with more spring-like temperatures at town elevation, and a little mid-week precipitation didn’t hurt.
Green River: 129 CFS @ Warren Bridge
Most of the Green River above Fontanelle Reservoir isn’t quite open. The Warren Bridge access area still has snowdrifts across the road, and the river is only thawed in channels. Give it another week or two, and it should be ready to go.
New Fork: 254 CFS @ Big Piney
The warmer temperatures around town have caused most of the New Fork to ice out a bit earlier than usual. The water is low, which has isolated most of the fish to the bottom of deeper pools on bends and cutbanks. Nymphs such as 20 incher stones and perdigons have been quite productive bouncing off the bottom of the run. Small to medium streamers such as Heisenbergs and Mini-Dungeons in darker browns and black will also do the trick.
Seedskadee: 814 CFS @ Fontenelle Dam
Rainbows in the Green below Fontanelle are in full spawn-mode right now, so first and foremost, be sure to watch out for Redds while fishing down there. Aside from that, the browns and rainbows that aren’t currently spawning are aggressively feeding. Count on the usual tailwater favorites like hothead scuds and midge patterns. Larger streamers have been turning heads as well. This area has been hot, and our experienced guides can put you on some big fish right now.
